J Bridger Cox

J. Bridger Cox, MD joined the University of Florida Department of Neurosurgery at Orlando Health faculty in 2013. He completed his residency training in neurological surgery at the University of Florida. Dr. Cox’s clinical interests are in spinal surgery and neurotrauma. Outside of the operating room, Dr. Cox has an interest in socioeconomic and quality issues within neurosurgery.

During his residency, Dr. Cox completed a complex spine fellowship under Dr. Patrick Jacob and Dr. Daniel Hoh. He has been active in research and was awarded the 2012 Mayfield Clinical Science award by the AANS/CNS Joint Section on Spine. Dr. Cox is a member of AOSpine, the Congress of Neurological Surgeons, the American Association of Neurological Surgeons, the North American Spine Society, and the Florida Neurosurgical Society.

A National Merit Scholar, Dr. Joseph Bridger Cox attended the University of Oklahoma, where he earned a Bachelor’s degree in Political Science, graduating magna cum laude in 2003. Dr. Cox was a member of the University of Oklahoma men’s varsity golf team. He also spent time in the United Kingdom studying at the University of Oxford. Following his undergraduate studies, he attended medical school at the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center in Oklahoma City, graduating in 2007 in the first quartile of his class. When he is not working, he continues to enjoy playing golf, as well as hunting, fishing, and travelling.
