ABOUT THE AUTHOR:

Jeanie Bennett-Packer’s fascination with Northern State Hospital began in childhood. In 1979, her father accepted a position at Northern State Hospital as the Superintendent following its closure in 1973. Growing up, Mrs. Packer spent a large majority of her child hood roaming the grounds and buildings of the abandoned campus. In essence, Northern State was her childhood play ground.

In her adult hood, her fascination with the asylum continued, devoting over 30 years to intensive historical and factual research on the campus, its staff, and residents making her one of the foremost experts on Northern State Hospital. To date, her work and consulting expertise has been utilized in a PBS documentary, a TAPS (Ghost Hunters) episode, several news paper articles, and various books and publications by other Authors, to include Leslie Rule.

She currently resides in Washington state close to the Puget Sound, with her devoted husband of 28 years, Joe Packer, her four beautiful children, three grandchildren, and their beloved dogs and cats. Mrs. Packer continues to own and operate the Northern State Historical Society. This is her first book.
