I work on projects, programmes and events that help people learn how to make a good living and make a difference. I network across the worlds of higher and further education, micro-business and social enterprise gathering people, resources and opportunities to bring them together in interesting, helpful and productive ways. I ran a university educational guidance and careers service until becoming freelance over 10 years ago & since then have completed a diverse range of learning, business and digital media projects - including taking over the top floor of Nottingham's Waterstone's & running an art gallery and creative conference venue.

My latest projects include using online spaces and social media to improve dialogue between University of Nottingham academics and experts and local micro-businesses; organising a weekend event Masters and Makers combining heritage skills and new makers with careers, apprenticeship and small business advice, and www.historiansonteaching.tv, a resource site to support university teaching and the preparation of humanities graduates for rewarding working lives. As a Fellow of the Royal Society for the Encouragement of Arts, Manufactures and Commerce, I'm leading the What Would William Shipley Do project, exploring how the founder's principles of enterprise and innovation for the common good might be pursued today.

I'm always interested in hearing from any potential collaborators. I love crossing boundaries, mixing things up and helping people and organisations to learn from others with different kinds of experiences and expertise. After all that's got to be one of the best ways of learning how to make a good living nowadays - and making a positive difference in the world.
