Jeffrey Bearss

Licensed to practice before all state courts of Michigan, the courts of the federal Eastern District of Michigan, and the Sixth Circuit Court of Appeals, Jeffrey Bearss’ portfolio encompasses diverse cases in multiple practice areas. He has obtained favorable outcomes in over 22 years of practice, in areas including construction litigation, trusts and estates, and real property. However, a particular area of Jeffrey Bearss’ expertise is in civil litigation. Having represented both debtors and creditors in loan disputes, Jeffrey Bearss thoroughly understands the litigation tactics utilized by both sides to create a winning case in such disputes.

Shortly out of law school, Jeffrey Bearss litigated cases under the Federal Truth in Lending Act, the Magnusson-Moss Warranty Act, the Michigan Consumer Protection Act, and the Federal Fair Debt Collection Practices Act. He holds an in-depth knowledge of the governing statutes and procedure of such cases, the claims and defenses available to both parties, and how they play out in actual litigation. Handling thousands of collection suits, mortgage foreclosures, and land-contract forfeitures, Jeffrey Bearss gained extensive experience in civil litigation while at UAW Legal Services Plan. Jeffrey Bearss currently works as an attorney at the Troy, Michigan, office of the nationally-prominent law firm of Weltman, Weinberg & Reis Co., LPA, the largest collection law firm in the United States.

In this role, his team has filed 2,500 suits per month during his time at Weltman, Weinberg & Reis, obtaining judgments totalling millions of dollars.
