I teach 8th grade math and Integrated Math I at Thurgood Marshall Middle School in Nashville. I'm also a member of Nashville's Vision Zero Task Force, advising on the city's plan to eliminate roadway fatalities.
I frequently yell at elected officials on Twitter or at public meetings to try and make Nashville a city that cares about its people. Sometimes I write about schools, transit, pedestrian safety, MNPS board meetings, city council, or something else at my Bullfrog Blog.
Many of my weekends are spent at marching band, indoor, or drum corps events, through my roles as managing editor of HornRank, T&P judge for Southeastern Color Guard Circuit, and certified band nerd.
I'm a graduate of Belmont University, where I earned a Master of Art in Teaching as a job-embedded candidate. My licensure covers 6-12 math.
I earned my undergraduate degree at Mizzou, where I studied computer science and was nightly operations manager at the student-run safe ride program STRIPES. During my time at Mizzou, I also worked as an AVID tutor in Columbia Public Schools and a copy editor at The Maneater.
I‘ve previously spent time as a freelance contributor for FloMarching, tour administrator with The Academy, administrator at Bluecoats Indoor, and event staff and volunteer for various marching arts contests. My marching experience includes four years as drum major at Music City Drum Corps.
