Jeroen Hendrickx

Learning Designer in Antwerpen, België

After working as a journalist for a couple of years, I decided to travel a bit and went to New Zealand and Australia for six months. Back home a friend suggested teaching Dutch to foreign adults for a semester to make good my depleted funds. But I really enjoyed teaching and stayed on for more than ten years.

From the very beginning I was interested in how education could benefit from technology. I experimented with social web applications and organized the first blended learning courses in my school. Since September 2017 I have been working for AP Hogeschool Antwerpen where I dedicate myself full time to digital learning. I encourage & support colleagues who want to integrate technology in their (online) classroom.

My main areas of expertise are ePortfolio, blogging, web applications, digital literacy and audio. At the moment I am also immersing myself in the maker movement, safety & privacy online and mobile learning. I also contribute to European projects from teachers for teachers, like Taccle & its successor Taccle2.

On a personal level I am an avid reader, I'm fond of travelling and one day I will participate in a half triathlon.
