Jessica Smith

Jessica Smith picture

Jessica Smith is a teacher, librarian and poet with a background in digital librarianship. Her scholarly interests include challenges of book arts librarianship, small press publishing, continental philosophy, and contemporary experimental poetry

Smith earned her B.A. and M.A. in Comparative Literature and M.L.S. at SUNY Buffalo.  In addition to teaching composition and German literature classes, she worked as a freelance archivist, archiving works by Kenneth Rexroth, Clark Coolidge, and James Joyce for the Poetry Collection and Charles Bernstein's correspondence for the Mandeville Special Collections Library; she also served as Project Manager for a digital archive of Buffalo-area poetry and art (Buffalo Arts Digital Library).

Smith's poetry includes Organic Furniture Cellar and multiple chapbooks; she edits Outside Voices Press and Foursquare magazine

Currently the Librarian at Indian Springs School, Smith co-curates the Visiting Writers Series and teaches elective courses including World Lit and Feminist Lit.
