Josh Morgan

Josh Morgan is a photojournalist residing in Long Beach, Calif. He is a Chips Quinn scholar, a graduate of The New York Times Student Journalism Institute, participated in the 2012 UNITY Student Projects and has interned for the Victoria Advocate and Tucson Weekly.

Morgan's interest in photography started in 2011 as he covered numerous news events in Tucson, Ariz., including the tragic events on January 8 when Rep. Gabrielle Giffords and many others were shot outside a local Safeway. Morgan was awarded second place by the Arizona Newspapers Association for "Best Multimedia Storytelling" for his coverage of the UMC vigil dedicated to Rep. Giffords. A year later, Morgan covered events in commemoration of the shooting for the New York Times Student Journalism Institute.

In summer 2011, Morgan documented the wildfires that wreaked havoc on Arizona landscapes, including his hometown of Sierra Vista, Ariz. Since then he has covered immigration issues in Nogales, Ariz. and Nogales, Sonora, and elsewhere.

Growing up in southern Arizona most of his life, Morgan has developed a keen interest in issues affecting the U.S./Mexico border. Morgan has documented immigration issues affecting both sides of the border, from photographing ranchers whose desert properties have become populated with migrant trails to filming the post-deportation challenges of migrants at the San Juan Bosco Shelter in Nogales, Sonora.
