John Heltzel is a strategic business development advisor to early stage startups as well as multi-national technology companies.
With more than eighteen years of experience working with startups as well as large organizations, he helps fine tune their business development strategies as well as provides a critical sounding board as a strategist for senior executives.
Prior to Los Altos Advisors, John was Vice President of Business Development at NearbyNow, a location based mobile search company backed by Draper Fisher Jurvetson and Norwest Venture Partners. During his tenure, he led the worldwide strategic and business development efforts, including negotiating partnerships with Google, Yahoo, Shopzilla and retailers worldwide.
In addition to his experience in e-commerce, online advertising, and mobile, John has built and managed teams to initiate, grow and close sales, strategic alliances and channel partnerships with Software as a Service, security software and payment services.
Earlier in his career, he worked in corporate and business development for Zix Corporation, Entrust, SkyTel, and Silicon Graphics.
John has a BA in International Economics and an MBA from UCLA.
