Jonathan McHatton

I am the lead data systems manager for the Springfield Area Transit Company, the largest of the five contractors operating transit service for the Pioneer Valley Transit Authority, located in Springfield, Massachusetts. I am responsible for all things data, both using and supporting users of systems across scheduling, CAD/AVL, fare collection, asset management, and more, as well as managing projects to implement new features and components of these systems.

I also serve on the Board of Directors of the Friends of the Columbia Greenway Rail Trail as the Director of Planning and Development. In this role, I help the Board advance current and upcoming development projects, as well as work with the City of Westfield to better accommodate pedestrians and cyclists through improved infrastructure.

I am passionate about all things transportation, especially walkability, bikeability, and public transit. I am also interested in sustainable urban design and urban/town center land-use planning.

In my spare time, I love exploring the outdoors, either on my bike or on foot, and I enjoy taking photos of the world around me, whether it be an urban landscape or a sublime mountain range.

I graduated in 2016 from the University of Massachusetts Amherst with a degree in Sustainable Community Development (BS), concentrated in Urban Studies.
