He was born and raised in Stockholm in a multicultural environment and soon became aware of that ideas and technology was his thing. He got his first Amiga Computer in an early age and soon realized coding was a perfect vehicle to express his creativity.
Joakim moved to Barcelona after spending an adventurous year off traveling in South America. While studying at the University of Barcelona he got his first email and started to realize the power of the World Wide Web. That was 1993.
After graduating he joined DOUBLEYOU. He spent there 10 years as Interactive Creative Director and partner, creating award-winning campaigns for brands as varied as Nike, Audi, Diageo, Nestle, Diesel, Electrolux, Yahoo!, SEAT and Coca-Cola.
Joakim joined Wieden+Kennedy Amsterdam in 2006 as an Interactive Creative Director to spearhead interactive work, creating global brand campaigns for clients of the like of Coca-Cola, Nike, Electronic Arts, Carlsberg, Heineken and Wodka Wyborowa.
In January 2008, Joakim dropped the interactive part of his job title to become a “normal” Creative Director. Since then, he oversees the global integrated campaigns for EA, BASF, Nokia and Wyborowa, along with his colleague and friend Edu Pou.
Joakim joined Goodby Silverstein & Partners February 2011 as a Creative Director and is currently working for Doritos, Nickelodeon, Chevrolet, Google and TD Ameritrade. In his sparetime he is enjoying sunny California with his new born Emlily.
He is the winner of over 140 awards in the last 15 years, including 11 Cannes Lions and one Cannes Grand Prix, 18 One Show pencils, four Clio Awards, eight New York Festival awards and 14 FIAP awards including one FIAP Grand Prix. Joakim has sat on the jury of more than 20 award shows around the world and is a sought-after speaker at industry conferences.
