Joel Katz

Joel Katz has served the Memphis community since December 2010 when he joined the the NBA's Memphis Grizzlies Foundation as an AmeriCorps VISTA and later hired as a Program Coordinator to implement and manage Grizzlies TEAM Mentoring, a team centric mentoring program that matches 3 volunteer mentors with 9 middle schoolers.

A native of Southern California, Joel completed his Bachelor’s degree at the University of California Santa Barbara in Geography and Sport Management. He led the creation of GauchosPlay.com, official website of UCSB Rec Sports while serving roles as Online Marketing Manager and Managing Editor of Rec Sports News. Joel played goalkeeper for the UCSB Club Soccer team, led the Gauchos as President and Captain for a season, and was part of the 2007 National Championship team.

Soccer is the passion, and Joel is currently the GK Coach for Germantown Legends Soccer Club. He previously coached the MJCC Maccabi soccer team that took home Gold in Israel at the 2011 Summer Games. It's a beautiful game.
