As an independent marketing research contractor with almost two and a half decades of experience, Joel Tracy is an authority in planning and implementing international product launch campaigns for the biotechnology, pharmaceutical, and consumer packaged goods industries. Joel Tracy currently works as a marketing research consultant at Informed Business Decisions, Inc. ((BDI) in Foxborough, Massachusetts, a company he founded. Established in 1999, Mr. Tracy’s firm provides research and business planning services to major multinational companies, including Alkermes, Eisai, Bayer, Roche, Genentech, Toyota Motor Corporation, and Toyota Industries Corporation.

Before starting Informed Business Decisions, Joel Tracy served as Manager of Marketing Research at G.D. Searle & Company in Skokie, Illinois. During his tenure, Mr. Tracy became a vital member of a Searle / Pfizer Inc. partnership behind marketing the product Celebrex. His research methodologies were key to the marketing campaign launch of Celebrex, which led to a historically successful product introduction. From 1997 to 1998, Mr. Tracy acted as Manager of Global Marketing Research for the Westwood-Squibb Dermatology Division of Bristol-Myers Squibb in Buffalo, New York. His strategies helped to assess the company’s position in the global dermatology market.

Prior to working for Bristol-Myers Squibb, Mr. Tracy worked extensively with Pharmacia & Upjohn, Inc., in Kalamazoo, Michigan. He initially joined The Upjohn Company (which later merged with Pharmacia Corporation and is now a subsidiary of Pfizer) in 1987, providing strategic planning until 1989. He was brought back in 1991 as Worldwide Senior Marketing Research Consultant, to help design the strategy for the company’s first global product launch. Between his jobs with Pharmacia & Upjohn, Joel Tracy worked as a Senior Marketing Researcher for S.C. Johnson and Son, Inc., in Racine, Wisconsin, creating actionable market research plans for new products.
