John Liddle

Melbourne, Australia

Hi, thanks for visiting. I’m John Liddle, a photographer from Melbourne, Australia.

Photography is my way of seeing the world around me and freezing those little moments that make up the continuum of time. I’m a photo taker who responds to opportunities as they appear, so the images I share are real rather than staged – not that I have anything against staged photos. I just prefer the documentary style of photography. Every time a shutter is clicked, a photographer has seen something of interest and I certainly believe in the old adage that “every picture tells a story”. However, I also believe that stories vary from viewer to viewer and that our values and life experiences influence how we interpret images.

Through my blog I’m hoping that viewers will connect with my photos, whether that connection is triggered by emotion, memory, aspiration or some other factor. In recent times I've been travelling in Japan, so my initial posts will be photo stories based on those journeys. Over time I’ll introduce other subjects and maybe even branch out and comment on other areas. As well as the blog pics I have other images on my website at www.blackborderimages.com
