John Durrett Kansas City

Throughout his career in the financial industry, John Durrett of Kansas City has demonstrated an in-depth knowledge of portfolio administration, brokerage services, and equity trading. He most recently served as portfolio manager and managing partner with Pembroke Partners, LLC, where he designed a long/short strategy that focused on tax efficiency and relative performance. During the majority of his tenure at Pembroke Partners, John Durrett actively managed its long-short equity hedge fund called Pembroke Capital Partners Fund which exceeded relevant performance benchmarks throughout the majority of its eligible lifetime. In addition, Pembroke Partners was an advisor to a group of managed accounts that employed a similar investment strategy as its fund.

Mr. Durrett founded Pembroke Partners following three years as founding CEO and chief financial officer of MuniDirect.com, an online brokerage of municipal bonds. As inaugural leader of the company, the first of its kind, he earned the notice of such major publications as Forbes, Money, The Wall Street Journal, and CNBC. Also an invited presenter at the Venture Market South Conference, he guided the company to its cash and stock sale in 2001 and remained as its managing director for its first year following the sale.

John Durrett has also served with such leading industry firms as J.P. Morgan Securities, Fidelity Investments, and Merrill Lynch. He holds a master of business administration (MBA) from the Fuqua School at Duke University, as well as a bachelor of science in economics from Vanderbilt University. Recognized with a chartered financial analyst (CFA) charter, he maintains active membership in the Atlanta Society of Financial Analysts. In his free time, he enjoys volunteering with such organizations as the Calvin Court Retirement Center, the Genesis Homeless Shelter, and Big Brothers Big Sisters.
