Corporate finance executive John Effrein earned a Bachelor of Science in Business, with a major in Finance, from Indiana University in 1983. Over the next four years, he worked with two different Illinois-based companies, serving the first as a Commercial Insurance Underwriter and Senior Operations Analyst and the last as a Senior Financial Analyst. Mr. Effrein then joined Kemper Corporation in 1987.

As Senior Financial Analyst for Kemper, Mr. Effrein led a number of progressive restructuring efforts. After coordinating multiple transactions, he increased shareholder value by hundreds of millions of dollars. John Effrein served as the company's sole spokesperson to the media and Wall Street during the 1996 corporate auction that fetched $2 billion.

John Effrein then spent two years with a consulting firm and four years with an international diversified financial services consortium. In 2003, he became a franchisee with the Commission Express of Kansas City. Mr. Effrein's efforts resulted in profitability in just five months, followed by a repeat business rate of more than 95% and annual revenues of $300,000 within two years.

After serving a start-up clean energy company as Planner from 2008 to 2010, Mr. Effrein was awarded a three-month advisor contract with Nyack, New York-based insurance firm Presidential Life Corporation. His initial contract was extended to 18 months, during which time he achieved a variety of milestones for the company. Most notable among these was the strategic plan aimed at increasing value recognition, a move that led to the firm's sale in July 2012 at a 38% premium to market, delivering over $100 million in value to the shareholders.

John Effrein is listed in the 2010 Who's Who Registry of Executives, Professionals, and Entrepreneurs. He continues to further his professional training and is a graduate of the Kauffman Foundation for Entrepreneurial Leadership. Outside of work, Mr. Effrein enjoys cooking and landscaping.
