John LoRe Oakland

Dedicated to the healing arts, John LoRe, Ph.D., currently serves as a Minister of Health at the Church of the Stumbling Shepherd. Located in Oakland, California, this house of spiritual discovery focuses on traditional Eastern medicine and mysticism. Since he founded the church in 2009, Dr. LoRe has combined Taoist readings from China with Ayurvedic advice from India, Sufi wisdom, and Western Mysticism. Integrating his training in psychology, Ayurveda, mysticism, and stress management, John LoRe, Ph.D., provides holistic, psychospiritual consultation for clients throughout the United States. Prior to founding the Church of the Stumbling Shepherd, Dr. LoRe worked with patients as a Transformational Therapist for 21 years. He later co-founded the Oakland-based Peace Parenting Project in 2007. Through this organization, John LoRe, Ph.D., performed individual and group consultations. Furthermore, he designed and facilitated parent education programs for families, even sharing his advice with a regional audience on ABC TV's popular afternoon talk show, View From the Bay. John LoRe, Ph.D., practices yoga regularly, specifically finding peace and spiritual connection through Hatha yoga and meditation. He has recently channeled his passion for yoga to create the organization YogaSaves.org. A work in progress, this website will educate visitors on the holistic benefits of this ancient practice. The site will also feature a variety of yoga products whose sale will benefit several humanitarian organizations. In his spare time, he taps into his creative talents as a voice-over artist, disc jockey, and mix master. Dr. LoRe holds degrees from the University of California, Santa Cruz, and the Wright Institute Professional School of Psychology (located near Oakland, California), where he completed his Ph.D. Additionally, he completed training at the Institute of HeartMath and the California College of Ayurveda, where he earned his Clinical Ayurvedic Specialist degree.
