Jonathan Blackshire is a Youngstown based singer-songwriter who has written over 100 original songs and released 5 full length albums. He has contributed music to the short film “I am Jane” and the web series “TeleviSean” as well as written songs about social issues and direct action. A multi-instrumentalist, he played or programmed almost every instrument on his newest album “Life Interrupted”.

“Life Interrupted” is a collection of songs that explore the stories, events, and emotions many of us witnessed or experienced during the global pandemic. Rooted in feelings of grief, depression, transformation, and hope, each song is based on one of the seven stages of grief: Shock & Denial, Pain & Guilt, Anger & Bargaining, Depression & Loneliness, the Upward Turn, Reconstruction, and Acceptance & Hope. Each song was mixed at a different studio, notably Wreckroom Recording Studio, Peppermint Studios, Nexus Sound Studio, Peace of Mind Productions, Magnetic North Studio, Mind Rocket Studio, and Ampreon Recorder. The entire album was mastered at Cauliflower Audio.

Jonathan is performing in support of the album with the backing of members of Gypsy Lane. Starting with a CD release party at Cedars on June 3rd, the group will be playing shows around northeast Ohio throughout the summer.
