In 2009, Castro created his blog animal sorrow.  Shortly after, he began publishing in various online literary journals. He then released think tank for human beings in general, a split chapbook of poetry, with Richard Wehrenberg Jr. That same year, Castro authored two ebooks: Orientation (short fiction, Pangur Ban Party) and No Ceilings (poetry, wtfpwm).

In late 2010, Monster House Press released Assuming Size, a 4-way split chapbook of poetry featuring Castro, Richard Wehrenberg Jr., James Payne and Ryan J.

In 2011, Deckfight Press released Castro's short fiction ebook Supercomputer. Shortly after, Thumbscrews Press released Cute, a chapbook of poetry with illustrations by Mallory Whitten.

On February 6, 2012, hiphiphooray press published KADIAN, a chapbook of poetry.

Castro writes songs, plays guitar and sings in The Ohioans.

Castro was an associate producer and actor in the film adaption of Tao Lin's novella Shoplifting From American Apparel.

He has two forthcoming full-length poetry collections, YOUNG AMERICANS (Civil Coping Mechanisms, Feb 2013) and if i really wanted to feel happy i'd feel happy already (Black Coffee Press, Mar 2013).

Castro edited the book Free Pizza For Life by Chris Clavin (Plan-It-X Records, 2012).

He is a contributor at Thought Catalog and his work has been widely published online and in print
