Joseph Getter
Musician and Teacher in Connecticut
Kalidasa Joseph Getter is a multi-instrumentalist, ethnomusicologist, educator, and creative world musician, who composes and performs for dance, theater, the circus arts, kirtan, yoga, soundscapes, free improvisation, drum circles, and more. He sings and plays piano, guitar, woodwinds, harmonium, hand drums, electronics, the bamboo flute of South India, and gamelan music of Java, Indonesia. Joseph is also a scholar and educator, teaching gamelan, woodwinds, percussion, piano, and courses in rock, world music and more. He lived in India for two years and has degrees in religion from Oberlin College and in ethnomusicology from Wesleyan University. Outside of music, he is an avid hiker, father, and advocate for ‘think globally, act locally.’
