Joseph Steinberg (CISSP, ISSAP, ISSMP, CSSLP) is a respected cybersecurity expert, executive, and C.E.O. of SecureMySocial, a provider of technology that helps businesses protect themselves from the risks of employee social media usage by warning people if they make potentially problematic posts.


Joseph has spent over twenty years in the information technology industry, most recently serving for nine years as CEO of online authentication vendor, Green Armor Solutions, and in several senior capacities at Whale Communications (acquired by Microsoft) for the five years beforehand.

Joseph is the inventor of several information-security technologies; his work is cited in over 60 published patents. He has advised various firms and the government on high-level matters related to cybersecurity, has written books and many articles on information-security-related topics, and is a frequent media commentator on related matters. He currently writes a column covering both entrepreneurship and cybersecurity for Forbes, and serves as editor of ISC(2)’s official textbook covering the material on its advanced security management (CISSP-ISSMP) exam.

Joseph earned an M.S. from the Courant Institute at New York University (NYU), and holds several advanced certifications in information security. In 2007 he was named one of New Jersey’s top businesspeople under the age of forty by NJBiz. He has also chaired the Financial Advisory Board for a NJ municipality with combined municipal and education budgets of ~$150M.
