Josh Byard
New York
Josh Byard is an innovative problem-solver whose deep intuitive understanding of consumers and technology is matched only by his passion for creating lean, nimble and effective organizations to deliver value for the business.
In 12 years at Viacom, he has led Product Development on the company's first broadband video initiative, subscription music download service and a shared technology platform for all digital properties outside the US. In his more grandiose moments, Josh claims to have invented Reality TV's "After-show" format. Most recently, Josh has led development on a next-generation content management and distribution platform to maximize the value of the company's content assets across all platforms, including those that are still emergent.
A Silicon Alley veteran who has weathered two tech bubbles and three recessions, Josh takes disruptive technology very personally. Josh understands that, to be successful, a product must manifest a deep understanding of its intended users' needs, and fulfill them in a unique and delightful way that is also both operationally manageable and fiscally sustainable.
In his spare time, Josh is an amateur futurist, gramophone restorer and writer of speculative fiction.
