Josh Lim
Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, United States
I was born in the Philippines in 1990, but I have also spent a good amount of time in the United States, China and Poland.
I am a builder of communities, with over five years of experience growing and propagating user bases for online properties. I find intersections between content production, community growth and user empowerment, building on my research interests in the social relations and power structures of online communities and the Internet in the developing world. I look forward to shaping the future of interpersonal interaction between people for both online properties and other organizations.
I am a graduate of the Ateneo de Manila University in the Philippines, one of Southeast Asia's leading universities, where I earned my bachelor's degree in Political Science with a minor in Chinese Studies. I may be a political scientist by training, but I love community building more, and I'm a community manager at Happy Team Check, a Polish HR startup. Previously, I was with Viddsee, a Singaporean startup specializing in Asian short films. My vocation is in content, for I am also a long-time Wikipedia editor, the founder of Wikimedia Philippines, where I sit on its Board of Trustees, and a member of the Affiliations Committee of the Wikimedia Foundation. I am also a columnist for the #YoungPolitics column of Women's Voices Magazine.
I likewise speak seven languages (English, Filipino, Chinese, Spanish, Polish, Japanese and French), enjoy listening to copious amounts of music, seeing the world, writing, taking pictures, and just being nice to people every single day. Feel free to hit me up if you're visiting my profile! :)
