So, about Josh. Well… what about me?

A few things, I suppose. I graduated from the University of North Carolina at Asheville with a degree in journalism in December 2010. Since then, I’ve been trying to figure out what it is I’m going to do with my life — or, better yet, figure out what it is I want to do. For two years I worked in a call center. That was two years too long. Now, I’m a stay-at-home bachelor, trying to find my way in the world of video game journalism.

In college, I wrote for UNCA’s student-run paper, The Blue Banner. I also spent time interning with GamerNode, a small, independent game site. Since graduating, I’ve contributed a handful of reviews and news pieces to GN. My portfolio, containing all of my published writing, can be found here.

I started a blog, called Backtracking, which I originally intended to use to write about retro games. However, I soon discovered I had too many thoughts about games, and gaming in general, to contain it to just retro stuff. Apart from anything published, you can find all my rantings and writing on that blog.

When I’m not hunkered over a keyboard — deep in thought about where all the purple Pikmin went, or contemplating the supernatural effects and moral implications of slaying all 16 colossi — I can be found rooting for my Atlanta Braves, quoting Seinfeld to myself with no one around, or looking for pizza.

If you have any questions or would like to contact me, please don’t hesitate to shoot me a message. I welcome any and all interaction and feedback! You can also find me onTwitter, where I use the handle @averagejosh.
