Joshua Ferris

My name is Joshua Ferris, and I work as data analyst for the Service Employees International Union.

I have a Master of Science in Public Policy and Management from The H. John Heinz III College at Carnegie Mellon University. My research interests include poverty analysis and the role of organized labor in poverty elimination. My interests in activism continue to include LGBT issues, economic justice, and international solidarity.

I am trained as a policy analyst with considerable professional experience in Information Technology deployment and management. I learned early on that even good organizations have room for improvement. This led me to an interest in program evaluation while I was in school. Program evaluation is a facet of management that I consider to be extraordinarily important. Organizations must make decisions based on evidence and we must build evaluation mechanisms that work continuously, so good organizations can become great.
