Joshua Rowe

I'm a Creative Director from Australia living in San Francisco. I've been coming up with ideas for interactive things since the first dotcom era.

I've written code and copy. Designed web sites, games and mobile apps. Even created the odd short film and a few TV spots. I grew up on the Gold Coast surfing, skating and writing the occasional BASIC computer program on my Vic 20.

At University I started studying engineering and graduated in design. Most importantly my de facto home, the computer graphics lab exposed me to the web. Whilst working in architecture in the 90s I designed and coded my way to a role with Deepend which was founded by Simon Waterfall.

I led the creative team as a Design technologist and helped Deepend Sydney win their first One Show Interactive award. As Head of Digital for Emery Frost Design my work was published in the 10th Communicaton Arts Interactive Annual. I joined NetX as a Creative Director in 2006, Australia’s largest interactive agency. NetX provided a transition to an advertising focused environment. I worked with M&C Saatchi for 5 years. The highlight was creating the award winning "Build with Chrome" for Google. According to the Gunn Report it was the 4th most awarded digital work in the world for 2013.

I then joined R/GA in Sydney to help establish the office. Following this I transferred to R/GA San Francisco for a brief period.

After taking some time out to see a little more of my new home the U.S. of A, I'm now working as a Creative Director on the Nike+ Innovation team with R/GA New york.

My work has been recognised by D&AD, Cannes Lions, The One Show, The Webby Awards, CLIO, Caples, Adfest, AWARD, ADMA and The FWA.
