Josie Miller

Lawrence, KS

My parents named me Josie, but all my friends call me Jo. Sadly, my name is not short for Josephine, though that was the name of my great-aunt. She was married to my great-uncle who was in the Italian Mafia, which instantly makes anyone seem awesome, right? My Mom always insists that they referred to her as 'Aunt Jasee', thus, my name was created. We don't talk too much about the mafia side of my family, and I've only heard a few stories of 'Aunt Jasee', so naturally, I like to assume she was the one running the show within the mob. So fierce.
At the ripe young age of 23, I am pursuing my bachelors degree in Graphic Design and a Film Media Studies minor at the University of Kansas. I work as a Graphic Design Intern at the University Career Center. As part of my job description and passion, I love to create innovative solutions to every day communication problems. It is my job as a designer to communicate ideas visually, to give life and understanding to a composition, and clearly articulate a message for the audience. I believe that design changes everything; it has the power to influence all people of all nations across the globe.
I have a passion for people, design, and embracing the weird and fun things in each day. These aspects of my life drive me to extend beyond my own limits. I hope this passion can be a catalyst that motivates people to believe that they can become more than what they are- to change the world in some way, shape, or form.
