Jovian Zayne

New York, NY

“Jovian is a genuine and powerful communicator born to lead.”

Jovian has always been a change agent. At an early age she became a leader among her peers – and ultimately as the first African American woman to be elected as the senior class president at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.

After leveraging her leadership and advocacy skills at the Presidential Classroom, she began her career in marketing with Black and Decker. Despite her success, she could not suppress her passion for leadership development.

Jovian moved to Teach For America, where she helped manage a number of large projects, including the star-studded Teach For America Week and as a Director of Talent Recruitment managed talent development in the Northeast. Jovian is now a senior leader, serving as a Managing Director of Talent Recruitment focused on human capital development and strategy.

A modern day renaissance woman, Jovian showcases her creativity as the creator of the podcast “Side A Fries,” the former blog, “Word Up, Haay!” and as a photographer and Official Chasemaster for Janelle Monáe and The Wondaland Arts Society. Jovian was named to Hello Beautiful’s 30 under 30 list, and is the director of the annual Thrivals conference at the Idea Festival.

A frequent public speaker, host, moderator, and facilitator, Jovian has been a featured presenter at The Clinton Foundation, Columbia University, the Idea Festival and Hello Beautiful’s “Women in the Workplace” conference to name a few. Jovian serves on various academic and professional boards and is a IGNITE leadership fellow at NYU’s Wagner Graduate School for Public Service.

Driven by a deep desire to help others to be their best, Jovian knows that finding one’s purpose often lies in our ability to encourage one another.
