I have nearly 20 years Fortune 500 experience in public relations and corporate communications. In 2004, I began branching out into social media.

I wrote SocialCorp: Social Media Goes Corporate, a book on how to successfully adopt social business strategies in large companies. I’m occasionally available for speaking opportunities and book signings. Computerworld called SocialCorp one of “five essential (social media) books,” and said “this well-laid-out book is filled with great references and ‘why didn’t I think of that?’ ideas for getting your company into the right frame of mind to begin a social media marketing project.” SocialCorp is also in use as a social media textbook at many universities in the U.S. and around the world.

I run Socialized, a consultancy that provides social media strategy, implementation and measurement for progressive companies and non-profit organizations. Previously, I was EVP of Emerging Media at Eastwick Communications, where I developed and implemented social media strategy and initiatives for companies like Seagate, Fujitsu, and Ustream.TV. Prior to that I have over a decade of Fortune 500 corporate communications leadership, which includes four years as the speechwriter to the CEO of Sun Microsystems, and three years as a director of internal and executive communications at Hewlett-Packard.

I live in Boulder Creek, in the Santa Cruz Mountains, which means I can get to the Silicon Valley in under an hour, but I’m far enough away to see deer in my backyard and stars at night.
