Juan José Sánchez Penas
Free software / open source developer, researcher & university teacher
Born in 1976 in A Corunha, Galiza. Between 1994 and 1999 I studied Software Engineering at UDC (University of A Corunha). Ph.D. in Computer Science at UDC (2006). In 2001 I co-founded Igalia, an European open source consultancy specialized in the development of innovative technologies and solutions, with its focus on key upstream projects and communities such as WebKit, V8/JSC, GNOME, Qt, Freedesktop.org, GStreamer or Linux. At Igalia, I work on tasks related to business development, group coordination and project management, still keeping some time for software development. I am also part time researcher and teacher at UDC since 2001, giving courses related to software design and programming.
