My goal as a science teacher is to help young people become informed and capable citizens of the world. I hope to encourage my students to observe the environment around them, to wonder about what they observe, and to appreciate what they notice. I want them to see how the scientific process can help them to understand their world, and that it can also provide them with the tools to help make it better.

As a teacher at an all-girls school, I pay special attention to engaging girls in the STEM fields. I work hard to show my students that science is approachable, interesting, relevant, and awe-inspiring.

I am honored to have been selected as a 2014 Grosvenor Teacher Fellow with National Geographic Education and Lindblad Expeditions. As part of my fellowship, I recently visited Norway and Arctic Svalbard. In addition to teaching Honors Chemistry and AP Chemistry, I am also developing an interdisciplinary course in Arctic Studies.
