I'm aged 58 and live in Cockermouth, a small market town in Cumbria, North West England, with my wife Olga.
I went to school in Rayleigh, Essex, took my degree at the University of Lancaster and lived for several years near Colchester in Essex before moving to Cumbria in 1994.
I was a freelance computer journalist and author of PC Advisor magazine's popular Helpline column for many years. Olga and I now run an internet business promoting computer troubleshooting software.
In my leisure time I'm an amateur radio enthusiast. I also love classical music and wildlife. I enjoyed walking the Lake District fells until June 2011 when I was diagnosed with incurable brain cancer (Glioblastoma multiforme.)
