Julia Slavin

NYC

My work lies at either end of the fashion system. Currently in New York and previously in London, I specialize in predicting what we will wear, disecting what we do wear, and later, archiving garments with intent to preserve a malable piece of aesthetic culture. Through a sociological approach to fashion, I attempt to redeem some of the symbolic and emotional importance inherent to dress. Unsurprisingly, the idea of personal style is all too often shaped by corporate-driven consumerism and preached personal insuffiency. With genuine fascination I research & report on dress practice to the contrary, and find myself wavering between the theoretical, the historical, and the masterful.

I work with private individuals to assess, edit, catalog, and maintaint their clothing collection. A clean closet of perfect pieces and good qi are my clients happy results.
