Recently, I started ArengaDigital, a Spanish language online magazine showcasing up and coming journalists from Latin America.
I have extensive experience in media outlets and NGO’s as an international reporter and editor, translator, researcher and senior communications officer with expertise in Latin America.
During my career I have worked with international non-profits like Oxfam American, Global Integrity, Human Rights Watch, and the International Center for Journalists in the areas of communications, media relations, translation, recruitment, social media, event planning and management, program management and editorial development.
I understand the need for to-the-point analysis when writing for blogs and the Web, as well as the importance of new tools such as Twitter, Facebook and other social networking technologies to reach audiences and supporters of a project or organization.
As a journalist, I am not afraid of taking new risks, of going further, of walking the extra mile. I am a meticulous researcher with a passion for writing, discovering, learning and engaging.
Diplomacy and discretion are paramount in my professional life. I know how to liaise with movers and shakers in government and private sector around the world and with fellow editors and newspersons. I have been an editor, so I know how an editor thinks – I can do the right pitch.
Being fully bilingual (English and Spanish), I consider myself a multicultural man, passionate about human rights, gender and development issues, environment, economics, diversity, globalization, and travel.
Experience has taught me how to build strong relationships with all departments at an organization. I have the ability to work within a team as well as multi-departmental collaborations. I thrive in a multi-cultural, international environment as well as in the fast-paced world of global newsrooms.
