Emmy award-winning reporter Jummy Olabanji joined ABC7/WJLA-TV and News Channel 8 in 2011. She's thrilled to be back in the Washington area. She was raised in Fairfax County and graduated from Westfield High School in Chantilly.

Prior to returning to the DC metro area, Jummy spent several years of working as a reporter and anchor at WTKR-TV in Norfolk, Virginia and WCAV-TV in Charlottesville, Virginia. She started her career as a news assistant at CNN's Washington DC bureau.

Jummy holds a bachelor's degree in Communication from Virginia Tech and a master's degree in Communication and Leadership from Gonzaga University. She is an active member of the Virginia Tech Alumni Association and the National Association of Black Journalists. Jummy is an avid supporter of many community organizations including Donate Life America and the National Kidney Foundation. She is the proud recipient of an NKF Volunteer Service Award.

In her free time, Jummy enjoys mentoring students and spending time with family and friends around the Washington area. She's also a huge sports fan. Her favorite teams are the Virginia Tech Hokies and the Washington Redskins, Nationals, and Capitals.
