Justin Cook

I am an independent documentary photographer who measures the success of my work in the relationships with my subjects, not by awards.

I am based in Durham, North Carolina where I work for commercial, non profit and editorial clients and on self-initiated projects about marginalized communities. My approach is a mix of journalistic reportage with a tinge of fine art flare.

My work has focused on marriage equality; inner city violence; veterans returning from war; talented but at-risk students; and triumph over trauma. I believe in the power of community storytelling, especially documenting the under-reported. I love cats. I also love to collaborate, so get in touch!
