BIOGRAPHICAL INFORMATION

I was born and raised in Ecuador, South America. I moved to the United States when I was 18. While I obtained bachelor degree in business administration and later worked in the private sector for a few years, deep inside I always knew I wanhttp://about.me/ka_serrano/#ted to be a teacher. I returned to school and obtained both my teaching credentials and a master degree in education - I have not looked back ever since (well...a couple of times). My teaching journey has taken me many places, and this year I am moving to a dual-language school which is the main reason I decided to start my own blog and create my own bilingual teaching resources.

TEACHING EXPERIENCE

This is my 8th year as a classroom teacher. I have taught 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade (including a multi-age classroom). This will be mt second year as a dual-language teacher (Spanish/English). I have a strong passion for reading, writing, and math and I am always looking for different ways to make learning both engaging and meaningful.

MY TEACHING STYLE

I have a direct approach to teaching. My lessons start with a teaching point - the objective of the lesson/what students will be specifically learning. Student engagement, collaboration, and involvement are what I am looking for in each one of my lessons.
