Read my book

I am an urban anthropologist with a PhD in Anthropology from Yale. I work in strategy, innovation, and design.

My book, "The Autonomous Life? Paradoxes of Hierarchy and Authority in the Squatters Movement in Amsterdam," published by Manchester University Press, was shortlisted for the BBC Radio 4 Ethnography Award 2017.

The book is based on my experiences living and working in a squatters community in Amsterdam for 3.5 years.

My work was also the inspiration for an art sitcom produced by Casco, a Dutch Art Institute.

My writing has appeared in the Times Higher Education Supplement and Anthropology News. I also blog.

I've lived and worked all over the world, including the U.S., Latin America, the Middle East, South Asia, and Northwest Europe. I am fluent in English and Spanish. I can converse in Dutch.
