Kaitlyn Straton

Seattle, WA

I live in Seattle, WA with my husband, Taylor. I love spending time with family and cheering on the Seahawks and Mariners. Given my affinity for solving puzzles, I enjoy researching solutions to complex problems and strategizing for the future.

In June 2013, I completed my Master of Library & Information Science at the University of Washington. Currently, I work as a Reference & Instruction Librarian at Pierce College and Green River College where I enjoy helping students, staff and faculty with their unique research needs. I also teach one-shot information literacy classes. Additionally, as the sole cataloger underneath SPU's Technical Services Librarian, my average day involves using AACR2 and RDA standards to create original bibliographic records and copy-catalog existing records. I especially enjoy creating call numbers and assigning subject headings, which are very important puzzle pieces to refining MARC records and ultimately helping users find what they need.

I encourage you to browse my professional portfolio for evidence of my graduate work and professional accomplishments.
