"If you want others to be happy, practice compassion. If you want to be happy, practice compassion." Dalai Lama
A little about me:
I graduated from the Concurrent Education Program (J/I) at Brock University in 2010. I am currently starting my 4th year as an occasional teacher. I have enjoyed the flexibility of being a substitute teacher as it has given me the freedom to travel. My most inspiring trip was to Thailand in July 2011.
I am currently a substitute teacher with the Burnaby School District (just outside of Vancouver). Prior to moving to Vancouver last year, I worked with the Toronto School Board for 2 years. I plan on moving back to the GTA in a year or two as my family is there (and I miss them a lot!)
My passion for teaching has been growing ever since I was young. My philosophy of education surrounds teaching to the hearts of children. I believe that with passion for teaching and a teacher's compassion and understanding, learning can thrive. My passion and commitment to teaching has led me to continue my professional development by beginning to learn about "technology in the classroom". I am excited for new learning.
I love people! I love meeting people and creating new connections. I love learning from others and hearing their stories. I believe that everyone has goodness within and witnessing random acts of kindness brings me a lot of joy.
In my spare time you can find me enjoying the outdoors. Living in Vancouver is a great place to foster my love for nature. Being surrounded by mountains and ocean has me feeling humbled everyday.
