Kalman Szentesi

Kálmán was born in Békéscsaba, Southeast Hungary. He was raised in Budapest then moved to Dunaújváros to complete his higher education studies, there he received his degrees in IT Engineering and Pedagogy in 2000 and 2002, respectively.

After graduation he started his career as a journalist and worked for print and online media such as Dunaújvárosi Hírlap, Dunaújváros Online, Prohardver/IT.news, CHIP Magazine, HVG and HVG Techline between 2000 and 2006. He was the chief editor of IT.news, his major field of expertise was copyright laws and IT security. In 2006 he was involved in the publication of a privately owned touristic magazine titled Hungary Tips with two of his friends. The magazine was financially unsuccessful and ceased publication after six issues.

The same year he established his own company, Letterhunter Solutions Ltd. (LHS) as a co-owner and general manager. After the successful acquisition of Echt.hu the company became a key player on the market of template-based websites and also offered outsourced marketing services and project assistance to enterprises through its project companies. At the beginning of the global economic crisis in mid-2008 Kálmán resigned from the position of GM, keeping only his shares in the company. LHS went bankrupt later in 2009, rendering all his assets null and void.

Meanwhile he became a permanent author of Ómagyarország, a highly successful sci-fi novel series, first published in a form of blog. In 2009 the first printed novel of the Ómagyarország series was published by Lilli publishing. The book, titled Ómagyarország – az Átkerülés napjai, received positive reviews from the critics.

Kálmán left Hungary in 2009 and moved to the U.S. where he worked as a photographer, shooting in the Caribbean region, Mexico, Honduras, Belize and Florida.

After returning to Hungary he followed his childhood attraction towards aviation and started his training as a ground operation agent at Budapest Ferihegy International Airport in 2010. Following successful checkouts he has been acknowledged as a Flight Operations Officer by the Hungarian Civil Aviation Authority. Presently he works at Doha International Airport for Qatar Airways.

Kálmán is an amateur triathlete, he completed the Ironman™ triathlon competition twice, in 2003 and 2004.
