Kamel Perez

Kamel Perez was born in Mexico but moved to Miami with his family in 1986. He spent the majority of his awkward highschool years back in Mexico where he was often picked on for not playing soccer. He then moved to San Francisco in 2001 to attend The San Francisco Art Institute until 2004 when he dropped out to work as a freelance photographer and at Ritz Camera’s photo lab in order to make rent. He had gallery showings at the Miami Dade Gallery, The Still Lights Gallery and The Diego Rivera Gallery at SFAI all between 2000 and 2004.

Now Kamel works in the video game industry and does iPad and iPhone apps on the side. He uses a Canon 5D camera and toggles between his canon 50mm 1.8, 35mm 2.0, and 20-35mm lenses. Kamel is a fan of sweeping vistas, books filled with useless facts, Criterion Collection Blu-rays, and Star Wars.
