Kara Pecknold

Kara pursued her Master's degree in Design at Emily Carr University, where she focused her research on cross-cultural design process. Her graduate work in Rwanda has been included as a case study in IDEO's Human-Centered Design Toolkit.

As a designer and researcher, Kara has worked on various projects in development, health care and energy consumption. Most recently, she collaborated with a professor at UBC to create packaging for the national implementation of a food fortification product in Rwanda. When not acting in this capacity, she can be found at Dossier creating design research tools or at Emily Carr University teaching a course she has developed that connects diverse disciplines to the idea of designing for social innovation. In November 2011, she had the opportunity to share her passion for designing to create impact at TEDxVancouver.

And she is also known to talk of herself in the third person.
