Kashim Bukar Shettima

Born in Borno State in Nigeria’s northeastern region, Kashim Bukar Shettima was educated in the country’s elementary and higher education systems. The entrepreneur and founder/CEO of the Barbedos Group of Companies went on to graduate from Kaduna Polytechnic in 1988. Early in his career, Kashim Bukar Shettima worked with Leemas Int. Limited in Kaduna as managing director and chief executive officer. He then devoted seven years to service in executive positions with Reliance Bank Limited, based in Nigeria’s largest city of Lagos.

In 2002, Kashim Bukar Shettima established the Barbedos Group, for which he has developed and expanded operations to encompass aviation and automotive divisions, the import and export of oil and natural gas, and the importation of food items, agricultural products, and fertilizers. In 2004, he added the position of director of Woodcraft Industries Limited to his resume.

Shettima has supplemented his practical knowledge of national and world trends in business and economics with attendance at a variety of seminars and continuing education classes. He recently earned a certificate in Professional Studies in Security Awareness and Strategic Leadership from Albion College at the London School of Economics and Political Science. He holds an honorary doctorate from Commonwealth University Belize, and has attended additional business-related training in Europe, the United States, and the United Arab Emirates.

Kashim Bukar Shettima and his team at the Barbedos Group are currently focused on the company’s growth in the field of economically sensitive products and services. He continues to use the Barbedos Group’s infrastructure, depth of capital funding, and skilled personnel pool to direct corporate growth throughout West Africa and beyond. In 2005, he established the KBS Foundation to provide for the health care, social service, and educational needs of underprivileged Nigerians.
