Katherine Bourget, MA

Self Discovery Guru in Kitchener, Ontario, Canada

For over 6 years my career was focused on accounting management roles in both the transportation and retail sector but I felt I needed to make a change. Something was missing in that Ferris wheel known as the monthly accounting cycle. My passion has always been for the people that I worked with and mentored. My greatest achievements were in helping people to succeed. So I took the first transition to the recruitment world.

Knowing that we all spend more time at work than with our families. The importance of work in our lives from both monetary and psychological aspects means we need to ensure that we are working towards reaching our potential. Of course that potential is unique to each individual. Thankfully there are many opportunities out there where each of us can make a difference.

Although I really enjoyed the recruitment world and the amazing people that I had the privilege to work with it still wasn't quite what I was searching for. I decided that the next step in my journey was to enroll in the MA in Spiritual Care and Psychotherapy at Wilfrid Laurier.

Surprisingly, the focus of the coursework is much more on the therapist rather than the client. It was an awakening of all of the "below the surface" issues within us that surface in our engagement with others -- those things that we bring into the therapy room no matter what our theoretical orientations. Ironically I believed that the skills that I would learn here would help me to help others. Instead the skills that I am continuing to learn are teaching me about myself. My strengths, my challenges, my humanness. It is also teaching me about self forgiveness, self compassion and living up to who I am not who I thought I was supposed to be. For that I am grateful.

As a life coach and therapist I help individuals seeking a path to transformation by helping them reconnect with their inner voice to receive their own wisdom.

But what I am really passionate about is teaching people how to have a compassionate relationship with themselves!
