Katherine Sopranos

Katherine Sopranos has worked more than 25 years in executive communications in top Fortune companies, including Boeing, ADM, Northern Trust and Tribune Company. She also has worked at Deloitte in market development. As a longtime C-suite advisor, she now serves as a management consultant to global corporations, nonprofits and startups. In addition, she serves as an executive coach, working with individuals and groups in leadership development to provide the business-skills training required for today's complex work environment.

As a management consultant, Katherine advises organizations on crisis communications, reputation management, change management, culture transformation and media relations, as well as branding and marketing solutions. She specializes in companies undergoing M&A activities, restructurings and reinventions.

As an executive coach, Katherine advises and instructs in strategic and persuasive communications, inclusive leadership, executive presence, change management, presentation skills, media training and business writing. She recently served six years as a faculty member at Lake Forest Graduate School of Management.

Katherine has vast expertise and experience in CEO- and senior management-level strategy. During her more than 25 years working at Fortune 500 corporations, she developed and led global communications for high-profile corporate activities that included multibillion-dollar acquisitions, divestitures, financial earnings, investments, company reorganizations, plant closings, community giving, internet ventures and new product launches.

Katherine is also a professional editor. She was a freelance journalist, with more than 200 articles published in the Chicago Tribune, plus a weekly column in the newspaper’s Business Technology section. The articles were published regularly in the Chicago Tribune’s employment, real estate and transportation sections. Her weekly “On the Job” column also was syndicated by Tribune Media Services and published in niche magazines, such as Silicon Prairie.

Katherine holds an MBA from Northwestern University’s Kellogg School of Management. She also holds a master’s degree in writing from DePaul University and a bachelor’s degree in French from Illinois Wesleyan University. From 2021-2022, she earned certifications in Instructional and Training System Design and in Data Analytics and Information Economics from the University of Illinois.
