Writer, Artist, and Environmental Activist in Marquette, Michigan
I am a writer and artist based in Michigan's wild Upper Peninsula. My work investigates landscape, scientific research, and environmental concerns.
I've completed artist residencies with experimental scientific research stations, watersheds, private foundations, the National Science Foundation (ANTARCTICA) and the National Park Service — Apostle Islands, Isle Royale, Voyageurs, Badlands and elsewhere.
Between stanzas, I serve on the board of the Upper Peninsula Environmental Coalition and the Mining Action Group, defending clean water and wild places from sulfide mining.
My newest book of poems, Psalms of the Early Anthropocene, was published by Winter Cabin Books in 2017, and transformed into "The Night Psalms", an original vocal cantata by composer Griffin Candey. "The Night Psalms" world premiere was performed by the Marquette Choral Society in 2018.
A curious woman.
