Kaveh Porter*

Kaveh Porter is electronic music producer, DJ and remix artist, best known for his mashups, bootlegs and yearly residencies in Ibiza.

Kaveh, the son of a Persian classical music composer and a classical singer, was brought up around music from birth. At the early age of 8 he was taking violin lessons and not long after, started to play the piano.

Through the years, Kaveh took an interest in electronic music, buying his first set of turntables when he was 16. His newfound hobby took up hours of his time, and when he turned 18, Kaveh decided to take his hobby to the next level, managing to land a Saturday night residency in a small city bar in the heart of Norwich, England. From then on, he was being recognised across the board for his original mixing style - and from that recognition, came the opportunity to play in Ibiza.

In 2008, Kaveh began his first summer in Ibiza, playing seven nights a week for six months, to hundreds of clubbers every night. 'Spending 6 solid months behind the decks made me realise one thing, that I wanted to be involved in music for the rest of my life', he says. Kaveh has returned to the white isle every summer since, and in 2012 is on his fifth consecutive season, playing at some of the best venues and events on the island such as Eden, Ibiza Rocks, Hush, Es Paradise, and Pukka Up, to name a few.

In 2009, Kaveh realised his love for music was about more than just playing records, deciding to delve into production and composition. He was already using software for creating original mashups, edits and cuts. But it was only until he started using a combination of software and hardware, that he began to learn the art of production.

Despite producing and DJ'ing house music and techno, Kaveh has a firm understanding of diversity and a very broad taste in music which, bolstered by his roots and education in classical music, is apparent in his productions today.

Kaveh's DJ sets are now much more than just playing one record at a time; he creatively blends samples and acapellas into the mix, while showing off his 3-deck wizardry. He's one to look out for, in the coming years.
