Kelli Charles

Houston, Texas

Dr. Kelli Charles is an accomplished educator with a track record of improving schools and central office departments for the sole purpose of ensuring we build schools, classrooms, and systems that support the brilliance of our students. I bring to this work over twenty years of experience in education. In addition to fostering equitable learning spaces, I have extensive experience in building strong, effective teams of inspired educators committed to public education. I also have the honor of serving the city of Houston's, jewel--Houston Community College as an adjunct professor of history for over a decade.

My areas of expertise include Special Education, K-12 Leadership/Administration, Literacy, High School Transformation, and Restorative Practices. I am a passionate educator committed to improving schools as a moral imperative- as I believe all students, regardless of zip code deserve to attend a high quality school. My time in education has been spent as a classroom teacher, principal, and central office administrator in both district and charter schools in Texas, Louisiana, and Kansas. Closing the opportunity gap and building the capacity of teachers and school leaders in struggling schools are the areas I devote my time and energy to.

I hold a Bachelor of Arts Degree in History from Grambling State University, a Master of Arts Degree in Social Science from Southern University, and a Doctorate in Education Leadership from Houston Baptist University. Certifications include Special Education, School Leadership and Superintendent.

I hold specialized principal leadership training from New Leaders - a national principal preparation program.

I enjoy helping districts and schools actualize their goals related to restorative practices, SEL, improving student outcomes, and supporting students with disabilities through building educator capacity.

In addition to my work, I enjoy visiting and spending time with my family along the beautiful bayous of southwest LA, doing the good work of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., and supporting HBCUs. I'm happy to also share my life with my two precious pups!
