Kelly Murphy Mason
Educator-Spiritual Director/Minister-Therapist in Bronxville, NY, USA
Hello! I am the Rev. Dr. Kelly Murphy Mason, an educator, minister, psychotherapist, writer, and spiritual director. The whole of my varied career has been devoted to integrating spiritual wisdom with psychological insight in the sacred service of helping individuals, healing communities, and fostering fuller human flourishing.
Since my ordination by The Community Church of New York in 2006, I have occupied a host of roles in higher education, counseling centers, and faith communities in both New York and New England. In the past, I served as Senior Minister at the Unitarian Universalist Society of Wellesley Hills and then Community Minister for Spiritual Direction at Arlington Street Church in Boston. I also worked as Managing Director for the Psychotherapy & Spirituality Institute in Manhattan and taught on the faculties of Union Theological Seminary and Columbia University, two of my alma maters.
Today I am an instructor in the Apprenticeship Program at the Phoenix Center for Spiritual Direction and Co-Chair of the Spirituality & Flourishing group convened in the Flourishing Network at the Harvard University Human Flourishing Program. I am a minister in affiliation at the Community Unitartian Universalist Congregation in White Plains, as well.
In addition to being fellowshipped clergy, I am a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker (LICSW), registered yoga teacher (RYT-200), certified Pastoral Counselor (AAPC/ACPE), and member of Spiritual Directors International (SDI). I also write book reviews for Presence, the quarterly journal of SDI.
Over the years, I have been a panelist and presenter at local, national, and international programs for colleges, institutes, professional organizations, retreat centers, and hospitals. More recently, I spoke at the 2023 Paliament of the World's Religions in Chicago and the global 2025 Gathering of Pilgrims in Vancouver.
My considerable training includes mindfulness, trauma treatment, couples counseling, logotherapy, life coaching, and spiritually-informed psychotherapy. Print and online publications have interviewed me. Additionally, I have published pieces in the academic and popular press and had my personal essays anthologized.
